University Alpine Club of Warsaw (UKA) counts more than 270 members who are interested in climbing and mountaineering in a variety of ways. Most preferable is free-climbing, winter climbing and mountaineering. The members  are mostly students or graduates from Warsaw universities, but the Club welcomes all interested in mountains.

There are many advantages of joining the Club. Apart from reduced fees in Warsaw Climbing Walls, the Club organizes numerous slideshows during winter time. From summer to autumn, we arrange the Club meetings in different crag areas in Poland and abroad, we organize meetings in the Alps and the Tatras. We organize winter climbing weekends for all members as well.

We offer climbing courses. We’ve got also a small library of climbing guides – their number is still increasing. Moreover, the members of our Club obtain a 10% discount in certain mountain shops. In the Tatras, members pay a reduced price when staying at the PZA campsites.

But the most important thing is that one can find among us amiable people interested in mountains and devoted to climbing.

UKA is a member of the PZA (Polish Mountaineering Association) which is a member of the UIAA.

[A PIECE OF HISTORY]

The Alpine Club of the Warsaw University was founded in 1963. Through ‘70 and ‘80 the Club had organized several expeditions from the Caucasus to the Himalayas (apart from the European ranges as Dolomites and the Alps). Last two decades were full of different mountain projects completed by our members – Svalbard and Greenland, Karakorum and Himalaya, different areas in North (Alaska, Yosemite, Bugaboos) and South America (Patagonia), Africa and many closer areas in Europe.
